SPCA promotes benefits of microchips in new print campaign via Colenso BBDO, Auckland

Screen shot 2011-08-03 at 9.55.02 AM.jpgOf the 14,000 animals that came into Auckland SPCA last year, only 260 were returned to their owners via details from their microchips. That's only 2%.

The Colenso BBDO Auckland brief was to drive awareness and inform pet owners in the Auckland area of the benefits of chipping their animals.

Very similar to the "short trips can be deadly" creative out of Clemenger a couple of years ago. Yikes.

Link for that?

This campaign is an embarassment. Hang your heads Colenso.

It is a 100% rip-off of the Royal NZ Foundation of the Blind's idea and campaign for 'Step Up for Sight'. A campaign which has been running on billboards all over Auckland for months.

Not good enough. Shame on whoever took the idea. By the way, the Foundation of the Blind's campaign is 200x better.

"This campaign is an embarassment. Hang your heads Colenso."

There aren't that many heads left to hang.

If they gave a shit they'd have give the money to the SPCA instead of stealing it from other clients' photo and retouching budgets. This will be great for Jane Hurman's next book though.

Goodbye Colenso

Bad form dudes. Stealing an idea from another charity and promoting it on the bog as if it was yours. Thumbs down.

This kind of behaviour, all in the name of awards, is what gives the industry a bad name. Of real concern is that it is taking away from a hard-working, genuine campaign for another charity for blind people. How can that be good for SPCA?

you have to admit though, cats are a lot cuter than blind people.

I remember the 'Short Trips' ad. It was shot by Matt Blamires, retouched by The Lounge. Ironically, it was BBDO Wellington that did it.

As for all the snarky comments regarding Vodafone, jeez - what a hard crowd you lot are. I'm sure Vodafone will be much happier having an ad agency just over the other side of the block in Wynyard Quarter. At least it will cut down on taxi fares.

This looks way better than that 'Step Up for Sight' crap.

1.41. The point being made on here is right and hope you're not responsible for the SPCA work.

Only a talentless hack who didn't have ideas of their own would steal the idea from another charity's billboard. You work in a different world to the rest of us if you think dressing up someone else's idea makes it better.

Desperate times call for desperate measures though eh?

Looks better. Yes.
Same idea. Yes.

Exactly the same idea.

Just a cat instead of a dog.

That stinks...I smell cat shit.

So do we prefer the Saatchis RNZAF ad with the little people, the Colenso Big City ad with the little people, the FCB (?) New World ad with the little people or the Generator Sony handycam ad with the little people?

6.32.

You are defending the indefensible.

It's about Colenso lifting andcompletely taking off someone else's total creative concept, including the dog shape merged into the streetscape. The Blind Campaign is current and its on billboards only a few minutes drive away from Colenso's office.

Whoever said it's an embarassment for Colenso is right.

It was a really shit thing to do. The industry should slam this sort of thing. It's as bad as scam.

And to think that this came from the agency that is closely linked to The Case For Creativity.

More like The Case For Buying a New Photocopier.

Epic fail Colenso.

Here's that Short Trips one too.. from the same network.

Dear 10.17.

Just so you know.

The Step up for Sight Work was developed end of 2010 and has been in market in various forms since.

Photocopying one charity's work and sticking another charity's badge on it is just a shit thing to do.
