Special Group scores Silver Pencil for Smirnoff Night Project at One Show Entertainment Awards
Special Group, Auckland scored New Zealand’s only Silver Pencil at the prestigious One Show Entertainment Awards, awarded tonight in Santa Monica, California.
The Awards recognise the worlds best entertainment concepts, television ideas, branding and mobile or online content.
The Smirnoff Night Project followed contestants over an unpredictable and often nerve racking 7 days as they try to pull off their incredible ideas – and with some quite stunning results.
Tom & Beth wanted to screen Jaws to an audience floating in the ocean at night, Dan wanted to stage a live music gig in the middle of completely nowhere, Amber created a mass game of Zombie tag in the countries most haunted building and Robbie created an entirely white world before destroying it (and covering everyone inside) with colour.
The television series was filmed by Special Problems and the events were managed by Mango.

Emerging talent at Axis and now a One Show silver pencil, congrats Kim!
Nice one.
Yeah, great work Kim, well deserved.
You guys are doing a great job, consistently creating engaging enlightening work for real clients.
It truly is impressive. However I wonder whether the right thing to do in this instance is to credit the co-creators of this campaign?
Pity the campaign failed to deliver on THE most important objective. Sell more shit.
Special, take a leaf out of what Y&R did a few weeks’ back – front up.
You need to give credit to those that actually did the idea. Send out a new press release. End of story.
Thanks ‘Tom, Beth, Amber, Dan, Robbie’. And good idea.
They were all credited in the release but here they are again – Jaws: Beth O’Brien & Tom Darlow. Zombie: Amber Cadaver. Gig: Dan Michaeli. White: Robbie Fraser.
The credits above will be updated soon.
some youngies from y&r are claiming the idea, but hey it’s not a great idea, it’s not even the real one show FFS
Gotta agree with So.Me. Yet more brilliant category breaking work from Special like their Greens & Orcon game changing ideas. But what Smirnoff, Orcon & Greens also have in common is while they collected loads of awards they also lost the business
