enter_finalist_image_anim.jpgThe NZ Direct Marketing Awards called for examples of work that exhibit excellence in insight-driven marketing projects and campaigns that connected with customers on an individual basis and generated outstanding results.

JustONE leads the agency pack with 16 finalists, followed by DraftFCB with 12 finalists and coming in third is Colenso BBDO with a total of 8 finalists.

With a raft of new categories, entrants were able to submit their work within the context of their industry, channel, the ever-popular craft categories and Nexus awards, as well as new individual awards. This resulted in a pleasing 12% increase in the number of entries overall.

A whole new judging process was implemented this year with the largest-ever number of judges being involved.

Says Lou Kivell, client services director, justONE and judge for 6 years: “This was the most rewarding judging process I have been involved in.”

Says Annabelle Fowler, head of marketing Australasia, Air New Zealand: “A much stronger process this year, which I believe has given better results.”

Says Sue McCarty, chief executive of the Marketing Association: “These awards also allow us to recognise the best and brightest new talent coming through the industry by announcing the finalists for the New Zealand Post Student Marketer of the Year award.”

This year, students had to prepare a marketing strategy and campaign execution for Bonus Bonds and ANZ. Kim Torri and Alex Bygrave from AUT will battle it out against Rachel Enright, Bridie Rose O’leary and Anna Enright from University of Otago for the Student Marketer of the Year Award.

Says McCarty: “One of our most enjoyable tasks here at the Marketing Association is to recognise and celebrate excellence, innovation and best practice in marketing. For entrants, winning one of these awards means shining a light on the quality of their work, enhancing reputations and a further opportunity to bring agency and client teams together. Now that all the entries have been carefully analysed, evaluated and debated by our panel of expert judges, we’re delighted to announce the 2012 NZ Direct Marketing Awards finalists.”

With the finalists decided, it’s time to focus on The Main Event, where the NZ Direct Marketing Awards will celebrate the talent and recognise the success of the great work achieved in 2012. Winners will be revealed at the awards evening on Friday 22 February 2013 at The Langham, Auckland.
