DDB wins Rialto Channel following competitive pitch - includes all branding and digital services
Rialto channel hasn't had an ad agency before and marketing was done in house as well as through SKY (created for a number of years by SKY agency DDB) .
DDB's first task will be to re-brand the Rialto Channel.
Roger Wyllie, General Manager of Rialto Channel, was looking for a fresh direction for the New Zealand-owned channel, and DDB's pitch was the clear front runner: "As Rialto Channel's content becomes more sought after we need to revitalise the brand so it's truly representative of the high quality of independent movies and documentaries on offer.
"DDB created an incredibly strong concept for the Rialto Channel and
presented an integrated campaign that we envisage will hit all the right
notes with both old and new Rialto Channel viewers," says Mr Wyllie.
Says Justin Mowday, DDB MD: "It goes without saying that when you get asked to pitch for a brand as creative and independent as Rialto Channel, you fight hard for it. We're delighted to win Rialto Channel's business and look forward to giving the channel a new feel," says Mowday.

"Wins competitive pitch?"
Hello. We didn't come down in the last shower. DDB are the SKY agency already. They are the incumbent. Which means they had to pitch to RETAIN the business.
I thought DDB already had Rialto - they've been running ads for it on behalf of Sky? Client sounds a nob - 'becomes more sought after' - code for no one watches it.
I heard they beat Whybin ....
Incumbents are not usually odds-on favourites to win re-pitches. There is usually a reason an account goes up for re-pitch in the first place. Anyway, well done DDB. A win is a win. Or at least not a loss.
It seems that the ex-DDB PR man is already spinning the yarns against DDB at the request of his new boss at Whybins.
Rialto is an independent company entirely separate to Sky. Like many they lease a channel from Sky and run their own business based on convincing people to pay a premium for their channel. I suspect they would have been happier with any agency other than DDB. Apparently TBWA were a close second.
Channels such as Rialto, Living Channel, Food Channel etc are all owned independently and only screened via SKY. That's also why it costs you more to subscribe to them.
