NZ industry in shock as director Adam Strange dies in shark attack off an Auckland beach
Many in the New Zealand advertising, TVC and Film production industries will be shocked and saddened to hear of the death of independent film and TVC director Adam Strange, who was killed in a shark attack off an Auckland beach yesterday.
Strange was represented by Silverscreen from 1994 until forming his own company adamstrange.tv in 2007. He was also represented by Joyride Films, where you can see his reel.
According to a report by stuff.co.nz Strange had been swimming alone from Maori Bay to Muriwai Beach, several hundred metres from shore, about 1.30pm yesterday. A 4-metre shark, believed to be a great white, attacked Strange.
In 2009, Aphrodite's Farm, a short film written by Strange and
freelance creative Pete Force and directed by Strange, won a Crystal Bear at the 59th
Berlin International Film Festival. The film, produced by Anzak Tindell, premiered internationally
in the Generation 14 plus youth section along with thirty other short
films.
