Big headache for Cannes Lions organisers as French air traffic controllers go on 3 day strike
French air traffic controllers have gone on strike in a three-day walkout which has grounded hundreds of domestic and international flights at airports across the country – just as hundreds of creative directors from around the world were due to start arriving to judge at the 60th anniversary Cannes Festival of Creativity.
‘Dumb Ways to Die’ creator John Mescall, ECD of McCann Melbourne, who is on the Promo & Activation jury, caught the last plane to Nice today from London before the strike started. Mescall told CB from Cannes: “From what I can gather, it’s on until Friday 6am and airlines are cancelling around 50% of all flights into France. Pretty bloody chaotic, I know at least four P+A judges won’t make it in time. People will have to fly into neighboring countries and drive.”

Oh no, everyone back at home is really upset by this news
This is a disaster. My thoughts are with everyone affected. Particularly the judges who aren’t going to make it.
