Austral Bricks taps top talent for sexy new look in latest campaign via Tango Communications
Auckland-based boutique Tango Communications has been working with Australia’s Austral Bricks to remind people just how sexy the classic clay brick can be.
The ads run online and in design and architecture mags, and point readers to the microsite where they can get the low-down on each of the talents individual brick stories.
The brief, says Austral Bricks general manager marketing Brett Ward, was to get people to see bricks as a way to add style to their new build or renovation.
Fronting the campaign for Austral are iconic fashion designer Camilla Franks, Sydney architect and intrepid brick-pile-climber Gerard Reinmuth, LA-based Aussie model Alyssa Sutherland and Brisbane architects Ingrid Richards and Adrian Spence.
Tango GM Joel Frost says finding the right talent was key to the project’s success. “We were looking for much more than just another endorsement. Everyone in the campaign gets what Austral is trying to do here, so we’ve just let them tell their own stories.”

The quality of these bricks in NZ that we have been provided with is terrible. Every second brick in every row on every pallet has colour missing along the top and bottom. The NZ bricks representative told us this was travel damage. He then said that we needed to accept this product to build our house as it was standard for bricks. I don’t see how every second brick is perfect yet each other has “travel damage” which turns into being called “the natural look of bricks because bricks are a natural product”. Will not use ever again.
There are serious supply issues here in Christchurch NZ. Visited the showroom early June 2014.
Bricks ordered soon after. Still waiting for shipment on 15 September 2014, three months later. The Builder has had his scaffolding up for months at an enormous cost. We don’t know when the house will be completed because although we were given a delivery date, they have not arrived. NZ Brick Supplier’s contact is not returning emails. Yes folks its a shambles!! Wouldn’t surprise me if our order is now cladding another property. No progress. Not sure when it will be completed. No communication.
…Don’t take any notice of the advice “they will have to come from Auckland..believe me you might get the 6th shipment form Australia if you are exceptionally lucky!
