Night Shift_1.jpgCurious Film has announced director Zia Mandviwalla’s short film Night Shift has received a Jury Special Mention at the Exground FilmFest, held in Germany.

Night Shift tells the story of airport cleaner Salote who tries to make it through another long shift. She does her job, does not draw attention to herself, and carves out her survival from what commuters leave behind.

This year’s Exground International Short Film Competition category had a total of 15 films from 15 countries competing for the jury award. Night Shift’s Jury Special Mention follows on from the film’s recent success at the 24fps International Short Film Festival, where it picked up a Grand Jury Silver Medal and a Best Actress Award for star Anapela Polataivao.

Night Shift was also selected to screen at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and the film made headlines in 2012 screening at the Cannes International Film Festival, the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival and the New Zealand International Film Festival.
