Over the course of two days, Gavin Carver, creative strategist at Facebook Creative Shop, worked extensively with all 22 of Media Design School’s AdSchool students to ensure that they were able to get the best out of the platform.

Kate Humphries, programme leader of Media Design School’s AdSchool, was thrilled to be given the opportunity to host the inaugural Facebook Workshop with Facebook Creative Shop at Media Design School.

She says that the focus of the relevancy of Facebook in today’s media landscape was highly beneficial for her students.

Says Humphries: “It was about Facebook now, not Facebook two years ago. It was very, very eye-opening and it has forced us away from the knee- jerk thinking of Facebook as social media to thinking of it as mass media.

“As one student put it: “With 1.3 billion users on Facebook, it just seems insane not to explore using Facebook as a mass media channel”.”

Humphries says that Carver’s workshop has “thoroughly pushed the student’s thinking away from apps and ‘likes’ and sharply focused it instead on delivering thumb-stopping content on mobile (not desktop) devices.”

Media Design School’s Diploma in Creative Advertising has gone from strength to strength over the past 14 years, picking up a multitude of awards and accolades along the way. The AdSchool is currently ranked the fourth most creative advertising school in the world by Young Guns International.
