BOTAB2014_533.jpgWhybin\TBWA\DAN’s Dooya (left) has taken out the championship title of the one event on the advertising calendar that has nothing to do with advertising, BOTAB.

The seventh annual Battle of the Ad Bands competition saw eight agency bands fight it out in an epic clash of egos and music ability last night on Thursday 11th September at The Kings Arms, emceed by Radio Hauraki’s Alex Behan.

Colenso.jpgWhile Whybin\TBWA\DAN didn’t quite have the level of “groupie” support of some of the other agencies – particularly Colenso BBDO’s Pegasus & The Job Numbers, FCB’s Foote Cone and OMD’s The Chased – our esteemed celebrity judging panel of Jacquie Brown, Murray Grindley and Otis Frizell were impressed by their quality of musicianship and DDB.jpgperformance.

For their efforts, Whybin’s was awarded:

• A Black Citroen DS3 with a white roof for a month

• A production run of their very own ice cream flavour from Much Moore Ice Cream

• Recording of their original song by Liquid Studios

• A music video produced by Flying Fish

• A day’s online Sugar and Partners with String Theory.jpgproduction at MandyFX

• $500 lunch at Prego

The judges also awarded Best Original Song to Colenso BBDO and Best Wildcard Song of this year’s theme: The Beatles to Flying Fish for their interpretation of My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Bands that competed:

• Pegasus and The Job Numbers from Colenso BBDO

• The Gypsy Thieves Whybins.jpgfrom DDB

• The OG Villains from Ogilvy & Mather

• The Expendables 5 – Sugar & Partners, along with String Theory

• Foote Cone from FCB

• Dooya from Whybin\TBWA\DAN

• Building 7 from Flying Fish

• The Chased from OMD
