Three’s a party in Lotto NZ’s latest campaign for the new ‘Play 3’ game via DDB New Zealand
To mark the launch of Lotto New Zealand’s latest game, ‘Play 3’, DDB NZ has created a trio of amusing spots that reveal how much more fun everything is with three.
The campaign offers a glimpse into the lives of three lucky brothers, who have found that their unique circumstances have led to even the simplest of games proving fun beyond their wildest dreams.
Launching on-air tonight, ‘Drums’, ‘Trampoline’, and ‘Dancing’, are designed to introduce Play 3 to Kiwis and bring to life the excitement of playing a simple game with three numbers.
Says Shane Bradnick, executive creative director, DDB NZ: “Playing on a trampoline, fun. Playing the drums, fun. Playing a dance game, fun. However, playing as three people who are actually one person, even more, more fun. Whilst most people say three’s a crowd, we say three’s a party. A simple and yes, fun way to launch a game that is called Play 3.”
Play 3 gives players the chance to win prizes every day for just $1. All players need to do is pick a three-digit number and a play type and then try and match it to the winning number, drawn daily at 6pm.
With Play 3, there is no large jackpot to be shared. Instead it offers fixed prize payouts, with good odds of winning and a top prize of $500. Customers can choose any three-digit number to play, which may be guided by personal superstitions and circumstances. Favourite numbers are often linked to birthdays, anniversaries or house numbers.
Says Kelly Millier, head of brand and communications for Lotto NZ: “The team at Lotto NZ is excited to offer New Zealanders a great new game that’s easy to play.
“These spots are designed to show that everything is more fun with three. Us Kiwis like to have a bit of fun, and we think these commercials will make people smile and encourage them to give Play 3 a go.”

is more fun with three.
what is going on with Lotto/DDB. Used to be the best in the business and now constantly producing average work….
Nice. Simple. Funny.
…2 static shots and a barely visible tagline?
I mean big names do small jobs all the time but why they wanted to PR this is beyond me. Nothing wrong with the idea but it’s not exactly a must-see?
Agreed, and anyone could have done this…..
Made me laugh.
Rubbish- come on DDB. Execution is dull.
Just crap….thank god the incoming GM Marketing is a proper experienced marketeer!…..Not!…expect more rubbish to come….a change of agency would be a step in the right direction.
Are you sure you’re not Heidi Montag?
DDB is doing cool work for other clients – SKY, Steiny, Westpac, even the Warehouse, plus their charity stuff like Paw Justice and YWCA – I don’t think the agency is the issue…
Average work from a below average agency
