DDB NZ leads Kiwi agency pack at the finalist round of New York Festivals 2015 competition

ddbbdtk.jpgDDB New Zealand has lead the Kiwi agency charge at the finalist round of New York Festivals 2015 competition with 7 finalists.

DDB’s ‘Bring Down The King’ campaign for SKY Television was shortlisted once in Branded Entertainment, twice in Direct & Collateral; twice in Outdoor and once in Public & Media Relations. DDB was also shortlisted once in Film for SKY Television ‘Murmuration’. Behind DDB is Colenso BBDO with three finalists; MARS/Pedigree ‘K9FM’ in Branded Entertainment, Mountain Dew ‘Hidden Graphics’ in Direct & Collateral and Breast Cancer Foundation ‘Breast Cream’ in Public Service Announcement. Clemenger BBDO was shortlisted twice for NZTA ‘Tinnyvision’ in Branded Entertainment and Direct & Collateral; Y&R NZ scored two finalists for Land Rover NZ ‘Love from Land Rover’ in Branded Entertainment and Direct & Collateral; Cirkus scored one finalist in Film for Airbnb ‘Welcome to Airbnb’ and MediaWorks scored one finalist in Radio for Devil Burger ‘I Got the Devil Inside’.

The categories included: Avant-Garde, Branded Entertainment, Creative Effectiveness, Design, Digital, Direct & Collateral, Film, Film Craft, Integrated, Outdoor, Package Design, Print, Public Relations & Media Relations, Public Service Announcements, Radio, and Student. All entries achieving Finalist status are now eligible to earn all levels of awards including Best of Show. Award-winning entries will be announced at the New York Show.

The 2015 New York Festivals competition expanded its global reach with entries received from 89 countries around the world. The United States led with 230 Finalist entries, a 24.5% increase over last year. German agencies saw 163 entries achieve Finalist status. The United Kingdom saw 126 entries move on to the trophy round, a 59.5% uptick over 2014. Australia moved forward to the trophy round with 115 finalist entries, France 85, Brazil 64, South Korea 55, and Swedish agencies achieved 52 Finalists.

A global summary of Finalist entries by region:  North America – 278 entries; Central America – 8; Latin America – 99; Western Europe – 529; Eastern Europe – 21; Asia/Asia Pacific – 311; and Middle East/Africa – 50.

The 2015 Grand Jury comprised of 400+ creative directors, executive creative directors and worldwide chief creative officers from 100 countries around the globe determined the finalists through an online judging session and a live collateral judging session. All Finalist entries will move on to the live judging round with the 2015 executive jury, an elite group of global creative officers. The executive jury will convene in New York City May 15- 19th together in one room to judge all mediums through four rounds of  judging and select the World’s Best Advertising. The executive jury, using NYF’s patented matrix judging system, will select all levels of awards, Third Prize, Second Prize, First Prize, Grand Prize Award and Best of Show.

The 2015 award winners will be announced at the New York Show award ceremony on May 21st. The gala cocktail party and awards ceremony will take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, New York City. The evening kicks off with a cocktail reception beginning at 7PM followed by the awards presentation at 8PM in the Rose Theater. A celebratory after-party will be held at Stone Rose Lounge, on the 4th floor of Time Warner Center, to toast all of the World’s Best Advertising trophy winners.
