Designed to promote the World Television Premiere of the award-winning movie Shopping, as part of Rialto Channel’s New Zealand Film Month, DDB worked with the film’s director, Louis Sutherland from The Sweet Shop, to launch a two-hour live online auction. The auction was hosted by the lead actors from the film who gave Kiwis the chance to ‘score mean-as stuff’, including original props from the movie.

Says Shane Bradnick, executive creative director, DDB NZ: “This campaign was fun for all involved and a rather unique way to pre-promote the launch of the movie. It was great to work with the talent and director to help promote their film, and to create a live online shopping channel where people could bid for items from the movie.”

Says Roger Wylie, general manager, SKY’s Rialto Channel: “Here at Rialto we’re huge supporters of New Zealand film and we knew this particular premiere was extra special. We wanted a fresh, interesting way to capture the attention of our audience and we certainly achieved this. It was great working with DDB on such an inventive campaign and we’re thrilled with the awards.”

The Promax BDA Awards recognise marketing excellence in the media marketing space and are regarded as the most prestigious awards for creative endeavour in this field.
