Stephen-Douglas-1.jpgStephen Douglas has left Sydney-based Fin Design & Effects, where he was head of business Asia, to take the GM role at leading Bangkok post production house Oriental Post.

Oriental Post is a division of Kantana Group Public Company, Thailand’s oldest and most influential entertainment, film and television production company.

Douglas’ new role has a specific focus on Indonesia and China that will see him working between OP’s Jakarta and Shanghai offices.

Joining at a time of change in the sector, Douglas is tasked with raising profile and building OP’s post business throughout the Asian region and worldwide.

Oriental Post CEO, ‘Ying Pimlapat, cites Douglas’ trademark passion, drive and energy, as well as his extensive networks throughout Asia and beyond, as key factors in their approach: “We have been searching for the right person to help develop our business and Stephen’s appointment signals a very positive change of pace for Oriental Post and our valued clients in Asia.

“Stephen’s experience and connections will enable us to expand our business in two of our most important markets, Indonesia and China. We are delighted to have Stephen on board.”

Douglas’ move comes off the back of recent success in Asia, in particular Shanghai, where he was instrumental in establishing a facility for the respected Fin Design + Effects.

A native South Londoner, Douglas has spent the last fifteen years working at a senior level in both post production and production in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this Douglas was joint general manager at Condor Digital Media, London. Over the last fifteen years, Douglas’ roles have included head of business at Oktobor (NZ), general manager at Film Construction (NZ + AUS), general manager at Digipost (Auckland’s largest post production house) and head of business at Asia@Method Studios (AUS) and more recently head of business Asia,  Fin Design+Effects.

Says Douglas: “Oriental Post and Kantana are a highly-regarded and already hugely successful business, with a great depth of experience and resource.

“It had to be a great role to tempt me away from FIN. This is an exciting opportunity for me to put the experience and networks I’ve built up in Asia over the past decade to excellent use. I’m looking forward to working with Ying and the Oriental Post family. It’s going to be quite an adventure!”

Douglas starts the new role on 7 September and can be contacted on stephen@orientalpost.com.
