Epica-2015-book.jpgAfter numerous requests from agencies, the Epica Awards has extended its deadline for entries until Friday October 23. “In the words of Seinfeld, we’re telling you for the last time,” said Epica Awards editorial director Mark Tungate, who hosts the jury meeting.

The Epica Awards are the only global creative awards judged by the cream of the world’s advertising trade press, including Campaign Brief.

The Epica Awards ceremony will be held at the Kino International in Berlin on the evening of November 19.

The awards show will be preceded by the Creative Circle conference at the Platoon Kunsthalle, Berlin. Speakers will include Oliver Rosenthal, industry leader, creative agency at Google; Robert Bader, Berlin creative partner of UNIT9; Chris Kelly, chief creative officer of Organic NY; and Frederic Bonn, chief creative officer N. America of Mirum. Subjects will include practical uses of virtual reality, the art of collaborating efficiently, and seeking inspiration in unexpected places.

Epica reports that its pioneering Virtual Reality category has been a success. “We’ve received some impressive entries so far,” said Tungate. “It’s gratifying as we’re the first competition in the advertising sector to introduce a specific VR category.

“In terms of country performance, the US is looking buoyant this year, perhaps due to the addition of Adweek and Digiday to our jury. But Scandinavia, the Balkans and Asia are also strong.”

Founded in 1987, Epica is the only creative prize awarded by journalists working for marketing and communications magazines around the world – including Campaign Brief, representing Australia and New Zealand. It offers an independent jury and global press coverage. Launched as the first European advertising competition, today it is an international celebration of creativity, attracting thousands of entries from more than 70 countries.

Epica-Book-1.jpgEvery agency that enters the Epica Awards automatically receives a free copy of The Epica Book. In fact, the book is one of the reasons many agencies enter year after year, without fail. It showcases all the Gold, Silver and Bronze entries, as well as other high-scoring finalists.

Weighing in at more than 390 pages, The Epica Book is packed with images, statistics and synopses, alongside agency credits and a detailed index. It also features in-depth articles about the Grand Prix winners, with interviews and behind-the-scenes revelations.

The book is compiled by Epica and published by Bloomsbury. As well as being sent out to entrants, it is circulated to journalists and VIPs and sold at selected art and design bookstores around the world.
