DDB New Zealand has won twice for Westpac ‘Handheld‘ and Special Group Auckland twice for Smirnoff ‘Instagram Your Fridge’ and Smirnoff ‘Pure Potential’.

Says Haydn Kerr, digital creative director, DDB: “We’re thrilled to be included among the best Facebook campaigns from around the world. And to get two awards for the same campaign is a real feat. Fingers crossed, both for us and Special Group as we go into the final round of judging. Hopefully the kiwi connection with Mark D’Arcy (chief creative chairman of Facebook Creative Shop) will pay off and we’ll see a big award coming down to NZ.”

Trends stemming from the APAC judging event:

  • This year’s award-winning campaigns consistently paid off bigger brand ideas — ideas first as opposed to likes, shares, memes or hashtags. Examples include: Ariel – Share the Load; Proctor and Gamble India; BBDO India and The Boys; Pacific Brands Underwear; Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.
  • We continue to see humor playing an important role in work that drives attention and cut through. Two campaigns that used humor to great effect this year were the Laziest Competition Ever for Carlton and United Brewing and The Boys for Pacific Brands Underwear both which were created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne
  • Highlighting the increasing importance of mobile video, more than 80% of winning entries included a video component.
  • More than 50% of winning submissions came from Australia.

The Kiwi agencies are moving on to the global judging event.
