92d13.jpgWith the preliminary round of judging complete CAANZ has today released the finalists who will all compete to put a new Axis trophy in the cabinet. Colenso leads the agency pack with 94 finalists DDB and FCB have tied second with 43 finalists just in front of Ogilvy & Mather with 42 finalists.

375 entries make up the 2017 finalists from the 83 categories that have so far been judged. This year CAANZ is seeing great work coming from all types of agencies, big and small and some new players, with the new categories in branded content and creative use of media well-supported.

Interestingly, this has not come at the expense of the more traditional categories such as direct, magazines and outdoor where good work is plentiful – outdoor in particular having a strong showing this year.

MumIn the Craft category, The Sweet Shop tops the tally for production companies with 17 finalists followed by Finch and Robbers Dog with 8 but with showing from Eight, Thick as Thieves, Goodoil Films, Heckler, Rankin and Curious.

Says Paul Head, CEO, CAANZ: “The diversity of the great work that has made it through to finalist should mean that there will be many celebrating at the Axis Award Gala Dinner this year.

“Our industry is evolving rapidly and every year we have to introduce new categories or face challenges around the categories that have been around for the 37 years of Axis. This year was no different and the entire judging panel have done a great job negotiating the challenges. We congratulate everyone who made it on to this year’s finalist list and look forward to seeing the cream that rises to the top.”

Nothing beats winning at your local – and we find out who the winners are at the Gala Dinner next month on March 16th at the ANZ Viaduct Event Centre.  See you there.

Tickets will be on sale from today.  Go to the CAANZ website for tickets.
