Republik_Weta_FB_1080x1080_Hobbit_2 (1).jpgWellington based, world-leading design and effects facility, Weta Workshop, has appointed Republik Auckland to manage its digital media strategy, planning, and buying for its consumer products business across local and international markets.

The consumer products business brings the movie worlds of Weta Workshop to life through the production of authentic figurines and collectibles.

They also create their own products and are about to launch their first internally developed and fully owned tabletop board game. Every piece of the game is meticulously created with exacting attention to detail by the same artisans who work on major film projects.

Says Lisa Birchall, Weta Workshop’s consumer products marketing and communications manager, says the time is right.

Says Birchall: “We’ve clearly built a solid foundation for our consumer products business, but we’re ready to step it up a gear across our global markets. It’s important that we have an agency that understands our business.

“This is our first official agency appointment, so it was important for us to work through a solid process, and during that time Republik impressed us at every stage. Their passion and enthusiasm for our business, combined with their depth of experience in the Gaming and Interactive Entertainment industries, meant they really connected and understood the challenges we face marketing our product portfolio across our global audience base. Their approach was innovative, thorough and well thought through, and they’re a really great team to work with.”

Says Paul McNamara, director, Republik: “I was overseas at the time when I received the great news. To say that this is an exciting appointment for us would be a definite understatement. The entire team is stoked, and we’re extremely proud to have Weta Workshop officially on our books. We’ve hit the ground running, having already been briefed on six separate product campaigns. This appointment continues the positive momentum we’ve been enjoying over the past 12 months.”
