2zOudIbp_400x400.jpgToday Clemenger Group New Zealand has announced a management change at 99 and Raydar.

Over the next few months, Paul Manning (right) will step down from his position as managing director (MD) at 99. Manning will be replaced by Troy Fuller (above left), currently managing director at Raydar. Fuller will retain his role as MD of Raydar and assume additional MD responsibilities for 99.

NZ shopper marketing agency Raydar moved into 318 Richmond Road more than two years ago sharing the space with 99.  Over the years, the agencies have found great synergies, sharing an equal passion and expertise in understanding customer behaviour at retail.  It seemed only natural for 99 and Raydar to further their cooperation through a shared executive structure. While the two agencies will remain separate but adjacent, we would expect even greater efficiencies, cooperation and increased shared resources between the two.  The combined expertise will be a formidable offer to our clients across New Zealand.

About a year ago, Manning invested in a start-up company (Helius Therapeutics) within the medical sector, advising them on its brand and go-to-market strategy. More recently, due to accelerated legislative changes, the company is poised for massive growth. Tapping into his strong entrepreneurial background, Manning has decided that now is the time to devote his full efforts to this start-up venture.  As a result, Manning has resigned his role at 99.

Fuller has been with the Clemenger Group for six years. Initially, he started at Colenso BBDO launching in-house shopper marketing agency Clemenger Shop. Tapping into the extensive Colenso BBDO client list, Clemenger Shop grew rapidly and successfully. In 2015, Clemenger Shop merged with Raydar to form the pre-eminent shopper marketing agency in New Zealand.  Since then, Raydar has expanded its offer and grown 50% year-on-year with an enviable client list.

Says Jim Moser, CEO Clemenger Group New Zealand: “I’m sorry to see Paul leave 99 as he has driven the transformation of 99, introducing our customer experience expertise in the context of a contemporary retail environment. Troy Fuller is a new breed of agency leader with a proven track record in agency leadership and management. He has developed an agency capability that delivers tremendous commercial results for his clients, which he will now apply to our clients at 99. We have high expectations for Troy in his new dual role and expect great outcomes for our valued clients from both 99 and Raydar.”

Says Manning: “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a team in the transformation of 99 – and the quality of the talent in that building. The agency is in a great place to capitalise on the CX capabilities we’ve built, complementing 99’s retail DNA. I have enormous respect for Troy. He’s a class act and a pleasure to work with. I have every confidence that 99 will go from strength to strength under his watch.”

Says Fuller: “I’m incredibly humbled to have been given the opportunity to take on the leadership of 99 in addition to my current role with Raydar. I don’t think there is any doubt that this will be a huge challenge, but with the group of smart and talented people I have around me at both agencies, it’s a challenge I’m exceptionally excited about.”

Says Moser: “It is also important to point out that Troy Fuller is an internal appointment and part of a strong succession management plan in the Clemenger Group. Over the past two years, we’ve seen excellent succession management appointments at Colenso BBDO (Scott Coldham as MD – 13 years with Colenso); Clemenger BBDO Wellington (Brett Hoskin as MD – 27 years with Clemenger); and Porter Novelli (Sarah Williams as MD – 9 years with Porter Novelli). We’re very proud of these appointments and the investment and opportunities that are available to our high-performance team in New Zealand.”
