Lotto Powerball Imagine (1).jpg“Would you go 50/50 with your best mate if you won Lotto?” New Zealanders will have the opportunity to answer this million-dollar question, in a new activation by Lotto New Zealand and Spark PR & Activate. To bring to life the new Lotto Imagine ‘Armoured Truck‘ TVC via DDB – Spark PR & Activate and PHD New Zealand have launched a campaign that takes the question “Would you go 50/50?” to the masses through an activation and unique Mediaworks integration partnership.

Lotto Powerball Imagine 2 (1).jpgThe Lotto Powerball Imagine Caravan will visit 14 towns around the country from Auckland to Dunedin and in between, offering best friends a chance to win a $10,000 travel voucher – all they have to do is answer the question, ‘would you split your winnings 50/50?’. Friends answer in secret by writing on whiteboards before flipping to reveal whether they’d split a Powerball win with the person sitting beside them – their best mate.

Says Emilia Mazur, general manager of corporate communications at Lotto New Zealand: “The Lotto Powerball Imagine Caravan celebrates friendship and the spirit of generosity, encouraging friends to answer the ultimate question – would you go 50/50 on a Lotto Powerball win?

“The idea was born from a real-life win where two mates from Wellington made a pact that if either of them won Lotto, they would go 50/50. When one of them won $15 million, he kept his word to his best mate – and gave him half of his win.”

The funny, surprising, inspiring and potentially shocking reactions from the Lotto Powerball Imagine Caravan will be filmed and used as video content on Lotto’s social media platforms.

To extend the reach of the activation to regional New Zealand, there will be one ‘Powerball Bonus Town’ at the end of the tour chosen by popular vote via a Facebook poll.

PHD New Zealand has worked with Mediaworks to develop a unique and extensive plan that included a 7 Days integration piece, an interview on The AM Show, a radio promotion with Jono, Ben & Sharon on The Edge and a custom TVC using Mediaworks talent that brought to life the idea of sharing with the many unlikely friendships that make up Mediaworks.

The Lotto Powerball Imagine Caravan launched over the weekend visiting four Auckland locations and will continue to visit a new location every day until Tuesday 20 March, with a ‘Powerball Bonus Town’ to follow.
