ORCA Presentation.jpgThe Radio Bureau (TRB) has today announced the return of the Outstanding Radio Creative Awards (ORCA) in front of creative and media industry professionals at the Ralph van Dijk seminar today in Auckland.

The aim of the ORCA is to encourage creatives in the advertising industry to let their talents loose and explore the options afforded by radio. They provide a means to recognise and endorse outstanding radio creative advertising which creates impact and effectiveness for the client.

Previously a monthly competition, the revamped version of the ORCA will be an annual event which allows creatives to submit their best work over a 12 month period.

The submitted campaign creative will be judged on its creativity, execution, effectiveness as well as its impact and relevancy. Judges for 2019 are still to be announced though they are high calibre and well known in the industry.

Says Peter Richardson, general manager, TRB: “We’re really looking forward to bringing back the ORCAs. It really is a great opportunity for the radio industry to reward creatives behind top radio commercials. We’ve been asked numerous times when the ORCAs will be returning as people have really missed it.”

Having run for over a decade, the awards are well known in the industry and winners of the Grande ORCA have won various trips overseas and around the world over the years. A highlight was the Grandest ORCA in 2011 which celebrated 10 years of the ORCAs. The winner took away round-the-world flights for two.

The 2019 ORCAs are no different, with the dangling carrot being $10,000 cash for the winner as well as a $10,000 radio schedule for the winning client.

There will also be the opportunity to win the People’s Choice Award which will be decided by the voters. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will take away $2,000 cash and a $5,000 radio schedule for the client.

TRB ORCA (1).jpgEntries for the 2019 ORCA opens 13 August 2018. Entries must be in by 5pm on 1 July 2019. Finalists will be announced on 15 July 2019 and voters will be able to choose who they’d like to take away the People’s Choice Awards.

All finalists will be invited to an exclusive lunch where the winner of the 2019 ORCA and People’s Choice Award will be presented.
