Grand award winners for Clio and Clio Music will be announced live during the ceremony, which will bring together leading creatives, marketers and high-level executives across advertising, media and music to celebrate the year’s most creative work. The 2018 Gold, Silver, Bronze and Shortlist winners from the Clio Awards and Clio Music were announced on September 5; the full list of winners can be viewed online at Clios.com.

Comedian, author and activist Chelsea Handler (pictured) will host this year’s ceremony. Coming off two seasons of her groundbreaking Netflix series Chelsea, the first-ever talk show for the streaming platform, Handler is currently touring the U.S., leading humorous discussions about the current state of modern culture and politics.

Says Nicole Purcell, president, Clio: “This was another year of outstanding work in the world of advertising, and we find it only fitting that someone who has innovated and reshaped cultural dialogue, like Chelsea Handler, should be hosting the ceremony.”

Susan Hoffman, Wieden+Kennedy’s Chairman, is the recipient of the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award, and globally-celebrated architect Frank Gehry is the recipient of the 2018 Honorary Award. Gehry built an architectural career that has spanned over six decades, with his work earning him several of the most significant industry awards, including the Pritzker Prize. Industry veteran Lee Clow, chairman, TBWA\Media Arts Lab & Director of Media Arts, TBWA\Worldwide, will present the Honorary award to Gehry.

Says Purcell: “We are honored to be recognizing the contributions of two creative leaders — Susan Hoffman and Frank Gehry. Their success is a model and inspiration for many, in this industry and beyond.”

Clio Music, sponsored for the fourth year by Citi, will recognize Clio Music Grand Winners during the ceremony, as well as the 2018 Clio Music Impact award recipient Scooter Braun.

Braun is the founder of SB Projects, a diversified entertainment and media company with ventures at the intersection of music, film, television, technology, brands, culture and social good. Braun’s artist roster includes Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Kanye West and Zac Brown Band among others. Braun remains committed to SB Projects’ founding philosophy of giving back by incorporating a philanthropic element for each new business initiative.

Braun currently acts as Chair of the Advisory Board of Pencils of Promise and sits on the board of Fuck Cancer, co-founded by his wife, Yael Braun. Together, Braun, his clients, and his companies have granted more wishes for Make-A-Wish than any other organization in the history of the foundation. In 2017, Braun proved to be the music industry’s ‘first-responder’ when he organized the One Love Manchester benefit concert and Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief telethon, within just months of one-another. The celebrity-studded telethon raised more than $64 million and garnered over 40 million viewers across the world.

Clio Music continues to partner with Billboard and Shazam to measure the power of commercial synchs on breakthrough, collaborative and classic songs. Topping the charts this year are:

●      Sofi Tukker’s “Best Friend” (featuring NERVO, The Knocks & Alisa Ueno) / Apple iPhone X “It’s Here” for the Breakthrough chart (a commercial synch that helped an existing song reach new heights in popularity);

●      Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey’s “The Middle” / Target “The Middle” for the Collaborative Debut chart (a commercial synch, utilizing a not-yet released song or a track commissioned specifically for that spot, whose premiere helped propel the track to prominence);

●      And Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”/ Hyundai Sonata “Duet” for the Classic chart (a commercial synch of an older song that re-engaged and connected with a former audience while exposing the track to a new audience.

Sofi Tukker is also set to perform at this year’s ceremony. The duo, comprised of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, released their debut studio album Treehouse in April.

This year, Clio is partnering with Snapchat to present the Snapchat AR Specialty Award. The single winner, selected by the Clio Brand jury, will be revealed during the show by Clio Juror Will Scougal, Director, International Creative Strategy, Snapchat.
