Eddie Coghlan's Creative LIAisons Diary #5

Eddie1.jpgArt director Eddie Coghlan from SDWM is representing Australia at the 2017 LIA Creative LIAisons program in Las Vegas, featuring some of the world's most respected creative directors as speakers. Coghlan reports exclusively for CB.

Day #4

The final day has arrived, and while my liver is relieved the rest of me is not ready for it to be over. No time to dwell though, and we get stuck into the first speaker for the day - Lara Logan, a correspondent from 60 minutes. After Lara's talk, I don't think there was a dry eye in the room after hearing her amazing stories and glimpsing her strength and resilience in the face of death. I'm going to call it and say it was one of the best talks we had throughout the whole program. After Lara we had a small break so they could organise the stage for 5 creatives and 2 clients that would judge the Gorilla Doctors competition.
Eddie2.jpgThe competition was open to everyone to enter, but I'm sure everyone that attended LIAisions had entered an idea or two. I was no different entering several ideas. The judging started off with a short-list of 30 out of 250 entries. I had everything crossed hoping one of my ideas made the cut, andEddie3.jpg luckily I ended up with one idea in the mix.

After some heavy debate (note to self: if you want to keep the judge's attention create a video instead of a board) we had the final 10 ideas. These then went through the rigorous LIA judging process and bronze, silver and gold were awarded, plus the grand LIA that would secure a Rwandan gorilla experience for its winning team.

After the winners were decided it was time to explore Las VegasEddie4.jpg before heading home. Fremont Street was calling and it didn't disappoint. Make sure it's on your to do list if you're ever lucky enough to find yourself in Vegas.
A huge thanks to LIA for this once in a lifetime experience. Eddie5.jpg Eddie6.jpg Eddie7.jpg Eddie8.jpg Eddie9.jpg
