Entrants across Australia and New Zealand are tasked with creating a 30-second television advertisement that captivates motoring enthusiasts and encapsulates the Supercheap Auto brand.

Applications are now open, and close April 20. To get started just head to the website and download your toolkit.

The competition is open to everyone, from film students to agency creatives and aspiring Hollywood producers, to those who simply love cars and Supercheap Auto.

All submissions are evaluated and whittled down to a short-list of 10 finalists which are then put forward to the public to vote for their favourite video.

With a whopping 19,000 votes, winner of the last Big Break competition, David Smyth, attributes much of his current success to his entry ‘Having a Baby’.

With his cash winnings Smyth built a studio that he uses to edit and create music to expand his business offering in the producing space, which he says was a dream he wouldn’t have achieved without the ‘Big Break’ win.

Says Smyth: “We definitely noticed increased enquiries to the business following the win, so it really did help establish us in the media industry.”

Supercheap Auto general manager, customer communication and engagement, David Bauer, says this is his favourite time of year as funny, creative and imaginative videos start pouring in and the public get involved too.

Says Bauer: “Last competition we had 6 million impressions on the shortlisted videos and over 160,000 votes were counted which shows the quality of the videos we receive.”
