Meridian expands stance on electric cars with challenge to Norway in new campaign via BC&F

Office (1).jpgFor a country of roughly the same size and population as New Zealand, Norway sure has us licked on electric vehicles. While we are ahead on many measures, the cunning Scandies have around twenty times as many EVs as we do, so Meridian Energy think it’s time we hit back.

Continuing its long-running support of electric cars (including last year’s TVC with Jeremy Wells and his young protégée), Meridian is launching a campaign via BC&F Dentsu, to encourage Kiwis to take on Norway in an electric vehicle challenge. While New Zealand is behind at the moment, in order to help Kiwis catch up Meridian are offering free charging for EV owners, helping with charging stations at key areas, partnering with electric car sharing companies, and will have converted half their fleet to electric by June 2018.

KVA (1).jpgSays Melanie Lynn, Meridian: “Meridian generate 100% renewable energy so it makes sense for us to support the switch to electric vehicles which are better for the environment. The Norway ‘If they can, we can’ campaign is just the latest example of our long running support.”

Says Jordan Metcalfe, BC&F Dentsu: “New Zealanders are a competitive bunch and hate to be beaten at anything. Norway are currently the world leaders in EVs, but Kiwis love a challenge.”

The integrated campaign will feature TV, online and outdoor executions.
