Colenso BBDO, Auckland’s ‘Doggelganger’ takes out Digital Grand Prix at Spikes Asia Awards

The same work also won a Gold in the category, one of only five awarded on the night.

Colenso BBDO also won one of two Golds in the Mobile category, for Westpac ‘Impulse Saver’.

Sister shop Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne took out both the Promo & Activation Grand Prix and PR Grand Prix for its NAB ‘Break Up’ campaign.

DDB won Network of the Year (pictured) and O&M Kuala Lumpur took out the agency of the year title.

Screen shot 2011-09-21 at 1.15.34 PM.jpgThe ‘Doggelganger’ campaign matched homeless dogs with new owners via a web application analysing the user’s facial features and matching the person to a canine equivalent.

 

Colenso BBDO planning director, James Hurman – who attended the awards – says it is great seeing New Zealand performing so well on the international stage: “We’re proud to see our work, like Doggleganger and Impulse saver, being recognised at this level – work with digital at its heart, and work that’s had a real impact on changing consumer behaviour.”

 

The Westpac Impulse saver mobile application continued to receive accolades winning Gold in the mobile category, while the DB Breweries TVC, Beer – the untold story won Silver in the Film and Craft Film Categories.

 

Colenso’s Rear view girls Levis Strauss was also recognised in both the Film and Media categories taking away Bronze awards.

 

Executive Creative Director, Nick Worthington represented Colenso at the awards and was on the jury for a number of categories: “Competition was intense at this year’s awards and all accolades presented by the juries were strongly contested. There is a lot of great work coming out of Asia Pacific and it is great to have our work recognised alongside the best in the region,” says Worthington.

Overall, Australia performed much better than New Zealand with the Aussies scoring three of the six Golds awarded in Promo & Activation: Leo Burnett, Sydney won for Bundaberg Rum ‘Water Mark’, Whybin]TBWA\Tequila Sydney won for NRMA ‘My car is your car’, and Leo Burnett, Melbourne scored Gold for Scope ‘See the person, not the disability’.

Scope also won Gold in the Film category, one of only two awarded on the night, and Gold in Film Craft (for best use of music), also one of only two awarded.

NAB ‘Break Up’ also won Gold in the Media category, one of 15 awarded, as did the TAC ‘A town called Speedkills’ campaign via Naked Communications, Sydney.

In the Direct category Australia scored the only Golds awarded: Whybin]TBWA\Tequila Sydney won for NRMA ‘My car is your car’, and Leo Burnett, Melbourne scored Gold for Scope ‘See the person, not the disability’.

Grey Melbourne won the only Gold in the Integrated category, for TAC ‘The Ripple’ Effect’.

JWT .jpgJWT Melbourne picked up a Gold in the Design category for ‘Stories from the Street’ for the Melbourne Writers Festival.

Australasia scored the only two Golds in the Mobile category, one for Westpac ‘Impulse Saver’ via Colenso BBDO, Auckland, the other for the Pedigree Dog-A-Like’ App via Whybin\TBWA\Tequila, Sydney.
